Grolsch beer bottle washers for strap locks

You'd need to be careful using rubber washers if your bass had a nitro cellulose finish.

Why? The washer shouldn't ever contact the finish, there is a strap between them.

Yes, those are fine.
I prefer to but a four pack for $10 and use those gaskets. But, Grolsch is one of favorite summer beers. I think I will pick some up today.

I use neoprene washers as straplocks on all of my basses. Washer is about 1 inch or so, with about an 1/8th hole in the middle. Works great!

Used Grolsch strap locks for years. Even when I had installed the Dunlop strap locks for my bass, I always felt weary about a little ball bearing supporting all that tension.

I did get the regular strap pins for my bass though so that I could use any strap with it.

Yup, I swear by 'em! They replaced all my Schaller and Dunlop straplocks, I have two or three pairs in every gig bag.

Here's your fix. No extra rubber washers, no mechanical lockers, just these and a strap. Just know it's a major PITA to get a strap on and off so if you want to remove your strap every time you case your bass you're gonna not like these, not to mention it would soon wallow out the button holes on your strap, but if you are good with leaving your strap on these are hard to beat.

been a grolsch convert (the locks and the beer) for years now, they work great for anything short of throwing the guitar around your back like an early '00s pop-punk band.

now the question is, which strap button design works best with the grolsch gaskets?

the fender-style cone shape buttons seem to want to push the gasket up and off the button a little too easily. i've settled on gibson-style buttons for all my instruments, with the washers they seem to hang on a little better since they present a flatter back surface to the gasket:

i like the raw brass versions since they're less slippery than the shiny chrome or nickel or plated gold, a little better grip.
