Grounding Question

Aguilar uses. See the plate screwed down, and the 3 wires.

That's something different. The Fender plates are at the bottom of the cavity, with foam on top.

Hmmm, I think that drilling a route for a ground wire works best for me as far as installing the electronics. And the idea of having a small patch of copper tape under the bridge is also really nice, especially if it helps grounding the bridge. When I'm all said and done with the project I will post some pictures ;). And I can't wait to find out how the pickups sound.

I just ordered some Dunlop Stainless Steel strings. Do you guys have any experience with these strings? I thought I'd give 'em a go as they aren't very expensive and I haven't heard them yet.

Again, thank you guys for all your help, you rock!

Before doing anything drastic, why not try this:

1. Get some copper foil used for shielding.
2. Cut a 2 to 3 mm wide strip long enough to run from under the bridge to over the lip of the bridge cavity.
3. Take off the bridge and bridge pickups and mount strip between the bridge and the bridge pickup just like the ground strip mentioned earlier.
4. From the bridge pickup end, just make sure that the foil is grounded to a grounding point, and on the bridge end make sure the bridge makes contact with the foil.
5. Test that the bridge is grounded to the rest of the bass.

This shouldn't take more than fifteen minutes to do.

EDIT: seems like you've already thought of this.
