Guild Pilot bass club?

Hey - Sorry to bother the conversation with this simplistic question, but I'm baffled. I've been wondering around the web and checking different blogs as well as the Guild site, and can't get an answer to this. I know Pilots came out in '83, right? But the Guild site only has serial numbers starting with '84, and serial number starting BE103XXX. My Pilot (4-string) starts BE102. Is that an '83? I can't find any info that would confirm that or any serial numbers, and I’d really like to know what that means. Another curious thing is that the head shape on my Pilot is different than the examples I’ve been finding on the internet. Not sure what that’s about either. Thanks in advance for any help or advice. Oh, my Pilot serial number is BE102910 if that helps or means anything. Thanks everybody.

BE102910 = 1987

Guild pilots had used several shapes for headstocks through the 1980s to early 1990s. There were the foot style (1983-mid.1987), pie-cutter (mid.1987-1992) and a pointy '80s (1987-1989) like the pointy-headstocked Jackson/Charvels and lastly the Pilot Pro (1993-1994).

Here's mine - an '86 that I just got yesterday after GAS'ing over one for 20+ years. It's got a really sweet neckplate also, which I will post in my next message...

Can I have a number?
