Guilt

i just sprung for a Nash pb-52 and haven’t told my wife, should I feel as guilty as I do?
Well, you may have definitely built your own dog house with this one.
Recommended course of action:
Consult the Blues Brothers scene where Jake tells his former fiance that it wasn't his fault.
Note: She has a M-16A2.

Good luck!

Funny you’d mention cases, i’ve got four SKB 44’s and at least one of them stays empty most of the time. Fortunately wifey is very indulgent when it comes to my obsession. She keeps me to a strict one in one out policy which is actually a good thing in terms of actual storage space. In fairness to her she didn’t insist on the in and out thing until my bass room got too full and I started putting stuff elsewhere in the house, there are still times when i use my mad money to buy a bass or i trade some non musical item for one and i’ll stash it in an empty SKB until i can unlaod one. I’m sure she knows when i get up to trying to be slick but with her spending so much time looking after her sister these days i’m sure i’ve slipped in at least two before i got rid of something. Either way i try not to be underhanded but sometimes circumstances dictate a variation in policy. I rationalize it by staying true to the one in one out policy i just sometimes have an incoming for a while before i manage to get one out, that and the fact she understands i’m weak when it comes to certain things and indulges me where those flaws exist. :D
Yep, the important thing is to have all your cases be the same and always keep an empty one around....:D

Probably yes; unless you're independently wealthy and 2 grand isn't a big deal. If it was me it would be a big deal, and I've got a pretty decent stash of band money. Anything over $500 She gets a heads up.

To the OP, it depends. When I went through my gear acquisition phase, I didn't have to clear anything with my wife (but I didn't have to hide anything either) because what I was spending was not too much, especially relative to what we both made. Compared to our incomes, the gear purchases were not material or excessive. In cases like ours, nit picking over small, self indulgent purchases does not help your marriage. I certainly never tried to micromanage my wife's spending and she didn't reciprocate.

This however applies only when the spending is small relative to your incomes. A new Nash bass may or may not be a big deal financially to you. If buying a new bass does some kind of financial harm to your family, then you may have to check yourself - you may have a problem.
