I saw the same catalog and the ratio of bass players to guitar players is just about right me thinks.

Thank God, I thought I was the only one still enjoying reading catalogs...
Does anyone on here still look at catalogs? It's called the internet, you obviously have it. Catalogs are for people who have yet to master technology and still like to call the places they order parts from. Like the guy answering the phone making $8 an hour really gives a ****. Totally clueless thread.
Totally clueless thread.
This coming from a guy who started the 4,586,324th "Why do people like Fender" thread.
If the ratio ever flip-flops, you'll also notice it's 10x harder to get into a band. It's good to know we're not a dime-a-dozen just yet.![]()

Guitar center is what it is.
About the 11 year olds getting their Strat-paks, in 7th grade (12 years old) I chose bass over guitar. Definitely one of the best choices of my life. There is the occasional person (usually guitards) who say "Bass is easier than guitar." but really its an entirely different beast. Some guitarists play bass on the side when needed, but its nothing like what a real bass player can do. I actually consider bass to be harder to play sometimes.
Frankly I personally dislike catalogs they (GC/MF) aren't as informative as one would like them to be.. I like insight on a guitar or bass when I buy one EX: they'll tell you the bass has 21,22,or 24 frets but alot of the time Im looking for jumbo frets and the dont include this in catalogs, or what pickup is in this one item sure I know its single coil or humbucking but who doesnt know this already. I really only step into GC now and then to test out amps cabs and in case i bust out a string.I dont buy extra sets when im there strings usu last me month
To all that say that GC is a total let down etc. I would like to say that I have never had anything but good experiences. They don't always have everything I want, but it has always been a pleasure to buy the things I want that they have. Their service, return policy, selection and 12 month no payment / interest is all second to none in my exerience.
I wish I could say the same about my GC. Their selection is terrible, unless you're looking for a Fender Jazz or P-bass. Trying to find someone to help you is impossible. You could stand perfectly still, staring at a bass for 15 minutes and no one will come over to you and ask if you need help. They'll just walk right by and make like you're invisible.
So, I get my Guitar Center catalog in the mail today, and lo and behold, they gave us 1 entire page (front and back) of basses.
Now, I know that GC has never gone out of their way for us, but seriously now. The guitarists get 5+ pages for electric and acoustic each, and all we get is 1 page!
Is it trivial? Yes, but it still has me more than a little annoyed.![]()
