Mesa M6 in Guitar Center East Brunswick didn't output into any cab I tried it with (tried the cable with a different head and it worked fine). The Orange OBC410 in the same store has had the rear input plate messed with and now only has 1 speakon input and holes where everything else used to be. Take care if buying either one online

Thought I was getting a steal with a Tobias Renegade at $300 from GC362. It showed up with a horrible bridge route to accommodate an original Badass, and then when it buzzed horribly I realized that the frets had been filed down to almost nothing on a large segment of just the E and A strings, puzzled I took it to my luthier and he pointed out that the neck was warped. They got it back yesterday and know of the problems...let's see if they put it back up for sale.

I just got a peavey USA cirrus 5 from a California and so far so good, it's in great shape. I just ordered a peavey G bass 5 string from the Sherman oaks CA store. I know it's coming with a missing neck joint screw...I'll let you know if there are any other issues.

Not only GC, but SamAsh too! They gave me a hard time to take a return, on a Jazz Bass, that came in ( bought online) with a different color that i didnt pick, just because i dont have a SamAsh store near me! I would never, ever, buy anything from SamAsh again!

There's a JetGlo Ric 4003 at the Northridge, CA store.

Played it today as I'm considering a Ric purchase.

I'd recommend avoiding that one, lots of issues. Scratched to hell, lots of scraped off finish on the neck, missing screws on the tuners (IIRC at least 2 tuners were missing 2 of 4 screws.)

It played terribly as well. I expect that from a used instrument at GC, but it played noticeably worse than any other GC off the rack used instrument I've played.

There is no way that instrument is worth the $1599 they're asking for it. As trashed as that bass is, and in the current market, $1200 would be high.

I saw that one, I didnt even bother touching it new rics can be had at that price or less.

FYI if you are on the 4003 rick hunt a local TB'er has one for $1600 in a very rare teal color.

Thumb 5 Bolt on at the Tukwila, WA GC - seems to have electronic issues. Tried it through a few cables and head/cab combinations, but kept cutting out while playing. I told the manager I know over there about it, so it may or may not get fixed. Just FYI in case anyone's looking at that one.

I thought that too, but I don't believe it is. It has no distortion when it's working, and all controls were responsive. Then it just goes completely dead, and comes back. In my experience, a dead or dying battery sounds awful until it can't power the pre, then you get nothing at all. It still could be, but no way I'm putting my own 9v in there. It could be a super simple fix like a loose wire, but I didn't open the cavity to explore. Setup was pretty killer on it, though!

I am no longer a Ric guy but I had to play it. Body is in good shape except for some tail lift in the bridge but something wrong with the electronics....specifically the bridge pickup. When I soloed that pick up there was very little output and a lot of noise... And what little tone came out was horrible .....

I bought a Lakland 55-02 from the Townson, Maryland store. It arrived yesterday with some issues. It buzzed on the lower frets and had some serious fret sprout. The saddles were jacked way up but the action was low. It played OK, but it just wasn't right. I've been doing my own set ups for a number of years. I'm pretty sure this one had a slight hump in the neck. When I tested the upper frets with a straight edge from the 12th-15th fret, there was some fall away towards the body. It just wasn't right. I returned it and to no surprise, it has been relisted at the North Attleboro store where I brought it back, even though they refunded my shipping, admitting that there was an issue with the bass.
