For the past 7 years I have heard the no price lowering on less than 90 day spiel, but only from the lower sales guys, ask for a manager, really ask for the store manager, they know the margin and get no commission so they will come down. At least that is the way it was for years, in recent history they have fired a ton of people and gotten more strict but if they did hang up on you then call the store and ask for the manager and you'll get a price break just for that horrible action.

Somewhere in the last year or so they really started pushing that no price adjustment until 90 days thing. In my local store I know most of the guys and they've told me that their computer system will not allow them to make any changes until 90 days is up.

So I just ask when that's going to be ;) I've gotten some decent deals by waiting until then, knowing that the current price is too high for the item to sell until they adjust it...then I swoop in.

I've had two price adjustments in the past week, granted those were when instruments needed parts but they can still do it, needs to be a manager though.

UPDATE: Funny. Hours from my first post on this, I just bought the SR800 at GC= $169 + $14 shipping.

I collect them. As a matter of fact I am playing an SR800 in my avatar photo.

I restore the junk ones. I have plenty of spare parts.

It's got the Gotoh made in Japan Logo on the tuners, looks like it needs a knob refresh and a finish touch and buff. I can return it if I don't feel it's worth keeping... Why not?

I'm 55 years old and have played many basses since I was 14. I love these basses for what they are. I can't believe these slip under the radar in the sense of value.

Not all the time its a good a thing. i had managed to find a Hiwatt DR405 that was in mint condition about a year ago. I went to the store i had it shipped to and the box was a big as a refrigerator box. I unpacked it in the store and the amp was wrapped with miles and miles of bubble wrap....however it made the box incredibly unstable as far as not having a proper center of gravity..... this is what happened:
