I saw some great deals at the Commack, NY store for the right person (not me). There was a Bacchus Bass, one of the older ones that say "Beginning of the new tradition" on the headstock and mention of Headway Guitars in the neck plate. It had a jazz body, with a sparkle red finish and two musicman-style pickups. Nice ebony board on the neck. Very heavy (must be some heavy ash) and electronics seemed like they were monkeyed with, but it played and sounded good for $450. Definitely a unique instrument with a cool vibe. The other cool bass (IMO) was a USA Kramer Duke (in black of course) for $199. Since I like Steinbergers, and my first bass was a Kramer, I had to check it out...but really, I prefer 5 strings and occasionally six. I'm guessing they'll be on the website soon. There was also a nice looking Sadowsky USA 5 string P-Bass, but at $3500 I didn't want to check it out even for fun.
