Any experience with Acme cabs? They seem to pop up pretty regularly on the used site, big thing I've heard is that they need a HUGE power amp to drive them - but my band tunes down to A0 and my 4x10 craps out around 20Hz too high for me to sound good.

My limited knowledge of them suggests they go very low and require more juice than a typical cab it get them moving. This is based solely on what I have read on TB - no first hand experience.

And that it is. And IMO, MIM Standards are nice, well made basses. After all, the Corona and Ensenada factories are only 180 miles apart. And this may be wrong, but someone who should know once told me that the facilities sometimes borrow workers from each other, depending on production needs and required skills. Sad thing is, someone might buy it for that. I just looked and the ad is still there.

Not really a "HOT" deal, but these are tough to find and they go around this price. I called to check and it's the earlier single channel version. I'd have picked it up if it were the 2-channel.

I have an ACME low-B 4 (second gen). It is a super hi-fi cab, with the three-way design and good quality mid and tweeter. I've actually used it as a PA speaker in the past. Very clean sound, not overtly colored in any way.

Cool, I think I've heard there were some issues with the mids and that they were more subwoofer-y, but that was YEARS ago so I imagine they've cleaned up the sound on later models and later generations of earlier models. Are they as power hungry as people say?

I have run mine with a bridged SVT4-Pro and with a '72 SVT. Sounded fine in both cases to me. I was trying to find fault when running the tube SVT (looking for reduced bass output) but was not able to perceive any. Still plenty loud enough to piss off my bandmates. The fault I've found is low resale value, but if you're buying in used then that should not affect you.

Cool, I've only got a 250 watt head right now but am looking to step up to a much higher-wattage class d in the near future.

It was $399 (with case) and I was trying to figure out what it was since it didn't look like a MIM standard.
It sold shortly after I initially saw it. I think someone just got a very good deal!
