How are you able to tell from the photo? Not arguing, just curious! :)

There are differences in the grain pattern

I don't know that the GC photo is clear enough to make a determination, but it does make me wanna see more photos...
Here’s the headstock of my US made 55-94 (dings and all)

And here’s the zoomed 100% one at GC (granted it’s a poor pic to start with and zoomed in on my phone)

I would also say the larger diameter tuners are a dead giveaway as well, being licensed vs US, but Lakland makes their “classic” series now with the licensed tuners on US made basses.

But yes, I would want to see more pics, even though GC is pretty decent with returns.

I don’t see people making fake laklands but I digress
You’re a very trusting soul.

There’s not much to scratching the “Skyline Series” off the headstock I would imagine.

Edit: while out walking the dog and smoking a cigar (never as easy as I think it will be), I remembered this one in the classifieds. NOT accusing the seller of anything, he clearly has it marked as a 55-02 Skyline, but someone scratched off the “Skyline Series”on the front and the “Crafted in Korea/Indonesia” on the back of the headstock.

SOLD - Lakland 5502 Deluxe w/hardshell

That TB listing actually doesn’t say “Skyline” anywhere, so only the “55-02” designation is a giveaway and only if the buyer knows the 55-02 was only a Skyline instrument. Of course at the listed price I would assume it wasn’t an intentional omission

Just a heads up for anyone looking, I traded in a 98 G&L Custom Shop L1505. It’s got a few checks on the body but overall finish wise looks great for its age. I also did the R7 Mod, the bridge mod and some other small tweaks and it’s an incredible sounding bass. However, the reason I traded it in is because some frets, mainly higher on the neck, are starting to lift off the fretboard, and the truss rod has play but not a whole lot. I didn’t want to deal with those issues, and any potential other ones that may arise, but I also didn’t feel comfortable doing private sale on that, so that’s why I just traded in.

Not saying this is some spectacular deal, but if ya read on this head, it's most definitely impressive, and this whole rack, everything looking essentially like new, I just thought I'd post it.

I admit I'm tempted myself- the massive power, the simplicity of the controls, just so much to like about it... but I've already got way more than I need. :)

$599.99, 10% off for a few more days...

Great minds think alike… I didn’t even see you post this until now, but I grabbed it this morning. Yeah, not a stellar deal, but if it comes with the AC120 and case, not horrible. And with the 10% off used gear sale it came to $599 shipped and taxes. That’s a lot of power for the money. I’m looking forward to comparing it to my BX1600.

Thank you SOOOOO much for relieving me of the temptation... it might still be in my cart, lol.

I very much hope to see a thread on this some time in the near future. :bassist:

Well, I have three gigs this weekend so I’ll definitely be giving it a run for its money. I’ll be sure to give my impressions, especially compared to my BX1600.

I also have a brand new Kiesel Osiris bass showing up tomorrow that I ordered back in June, so this weekend is going to be a gear fest!
