I recently noticed some items that caught my eye on Guitar Center's used website, but I didn't know how it worked if you were interested in an item in a different state than your local GC.
My hypothetical situation is like this: They usually only post one picture of the item, so what if you buy the item and pay to have it shipped, and you're not happy with what you received, yet you paid over a grand for it?
Has anybody ever bought amp heads and had those shipped? If so, what do you figure they generally charge to ship those? Also, is there wiggle room on the website prices on used gear on their site if you call or email the store, like there usually is at your local store in person? Any experiences with this, fellow TB 'ers? Thanks.
Yea. Normally they'll deal via phone or email, unless the item is "Just Arrived." If you buy it over the phone, shipping charges are normally very good. You can always look up the item number on their website and put it in your cart and it will give you a shipping estimate, but a lot of us here have found that the shipping is normally way less than the website implies if you talk to someone over the phone. Sometimes, you'll even get free shipping if you play your cards right.
As for shipping, etc., you have a 30-day return policy. You can just return the item to your local GC. They refund everything but the shipping in most cases. As for packing, I've never purchased a head from them, but have bought many guitars and cabs, and in my experiences, everything has always been packed way beyond necessary, which is a good thing.
