I called and they claim the paint was bubbling around the G string side horn and is chipping off. I guess it was a shoddy refin. They said the hardware is grimy and the frets need a polish. Otherwise it apparently plays fine and the electronics are fine. No case.

Not the cheapest I've seen one of these but this is the best playing and sounding Jack Casady's I've ever come across. Perfect setup and not a cosmetic flaw to be found. Comes with a non original but well fitting case. I came real close to buying this one:

It looks like a JB5 with a custom pickguard. Good deal on a nice bass.

That's a PB5 that's been modded with a custom pick guard to have a J pickup in the neck position.

The jb5 has the controlls mounted on a Jazz Bass style control plate, not on the pick guard.
