What's happened with me once in the past was that once an interest is expressed, people actually in the store begin to take notice. I was about to buy a Heritage guitar for about 500 less than what it was worth asked if they could hold it for five minutes for me to take a call, I got back on the line and someone in store grabbed it and bought it. If you think something shady is going down at a GC you can pretty much assume that is the case.
this is why it may be best to just buy it straight away online without calling but that can backfire sometimes lol
Here is a quick update on the situation. This morning I received a very nice email from the store manager who stated that no one at the store purchased the item and that he does not conduct business in that manner. He said the amp was ordered by a customer out of state. He also offered his help in finding another amp for me.

I have only called 1 time to order and I have ordered at least 10 used basses from them. The 1 time I called they said my card wasnt going through and after a total of 4 times trying they gave up. Well my bank card was charged 4 times, it over drafted and it took over $2000 out of my bank, I had to go to the bank and it took weeks to get my account back in order. I called the guy that did it and he still wouldnt ship it to me even though I paid 4 times the price and once my account was straightened out it was sold, so yeah I only order online. If it shows up looking like crap I return it for a 100% refund, only had to do that 1 time.

Personally, I'm holding out for a mandolin bass. 
It seems silly, but it really does sound like a banjo. It's probably great for bluegrass type stuff.That oughta go fast!
If that was a J Special it'd be mine, I still kinda want the neck off it. If someone buys it I will trade you a identical neck but J width 1.5 inch nut whereas that one is 1.65.
