I figure the only people who think an instrument is easy are either purty darn good or purty darn awful.

More often than not they're physically the latter and mentally (to themselves) the former.

Without a doubt. Playing guitar or bass isn't too difficult. Playing them well is another story.

the problem is ... 90% of the bass player only play root-5 ... so playing well isn't even an option dude they make money don't need to be better.

Same thing with wannabe-guitar player only using pentatonic riff/scale over everything.
