Thanks for the review of the flats, @SBassman. Sounds like you are happy with the Cordoba. Did you have to do much adjustment or setup when you first got the bass? Online reviews sound pretty positive overall.

Ok. I am slow. I am just connecting dots.
I thought you meant that - *my* sound sample was recorded with a synth.![]()
Don’t know how I missed this…
Ortega has an offering in this class! Nylon strings, like the Taylor, Guild, Ibanez, et al.
Ortega has their own custom sets made, which could be interesting. Like the new Martin 000C Jr, it has a cutaway, which is a useful wrinkle. Marketed as a travel bass- very small body, but deep. Comes with a gig bag.
3-band EQ with phase and a notch, which is also welcome. On the longer side at 24.6” scale, which may be how Aram gets away with these slappa-da-bass antics:
Ove does a nice demo of the preamp in this short review. He plucks it normally, revealing that it has some real resonance down low when it’s plugged in, and reminds me more of my Guild than the thinner-sounding Taylor:

Ooooooooo!!!!!!!! @Cullen G is gonna go ape!![]()
Aquila Flat Spirals:
... If you have any interest, please post telling me the guitar scale acoustic bass you have and the number of sets you would be interested in purchasing. After about a week, I will do the math based on the responses, and we will take it from there. Thanks.
Sorry if I missed it, but what are the tensions on these?I am surprised. We have a pretty large number of folks in this thread. Would have expected some takers.
Ok, well - more strings for me.![]()
Aquila Flat Spirals:
It is going to take some time before Aquila can set up regular distribution from the U.S.
I love and feel so strongly about the strings that I am willing to assist with bringing first sets of strings to the U.S.
I correspond with Mimmo at times, and I believe they are open to this.
Assuming I could work out details, would you be interested in purchasing sets inside the U.S. instead of direct to Italy at this time?
If we worked through all the details, I would arrange this so there would be no profit for me. I would simply facilitate because I believe in these strings. I'd collect up orders, place the single order to Aquila, receive and then ship in the U.S. This would not be a super fast ship-to-you-as-soon-as-you-order situation. But, what it might do is get the strings moving here at good price - because everyone would essentially split the shipping from Italy.
