So I went down to a well-respected gun store in town, and had them "sell" me a gun. I ended up handling just about every pistol in 9mm, .40, and even a couple in .45. About 30 or so in total. The gun that was the most comfortable in hand and looking down was a S&W M&P .40, so that's what I ended up getting. Next weekend will be training and taking it to the range (and my very first time shooting a gun......).

Enjoy, I looked at them real hard before I got such a deal on my used Glock with a pile of extras. They fit the hands real nice. Did you get a Rebate? You might want to google S & W rebate, they have been running quite a few nice freebies with the purchase of those guns.
As a side note, the new Interior department regulations may make a me a firearms shopper again. With the ability to carry in National parks I might be looking at a Rueger Alaskan in 454 Cassul. If you've ever been to Katmai in AK, you know about the need for a bear stopper. I won't be practicing with this gun much though.
