It's that his tone is terrible. I've seldom heard more fret buzz in a solo than this. If he cleaned up his tone and technique, it could work in a few metal songs...

I never thought about that till a few days ago.

I was in the music store and they had a brand new Fender P Bass Special. The screws were coming out of the pick guard and one of the tone knobs was missing. I picked it up to play it, then thought to myself I would just have to order it online or have the store order me one.
