I think he is doing it intentionally. In a related matter, it was cool how he really strayed from the melody but restated it at times so we would not forget what song we were listening to.

You must have some pretty big ears, Doc. I've been playing that song every week for a couple of years and I didn't pick up on anything like even a reference to or quote from the melody anywhere. If I hadn't seen it written in the post there is no way I would have picked up what he was playing. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, and taking nothing away from the highly developed technical chops with great tones and superb articulation, but it's so far 'out there' that musically it leaves me cold.

Hadrien Feraud is an instituton and a powerhouse. There is literally nobody on this planet atm with such wide musical vocabulary and such precision and masterful execution. On top of that all of his lines, no matter how crazy, always sound sweet.

Insane dude.

Undoubtedly a first class musician, but this is like when I go to NAMM and see all these guys demonstrating that are so far past what I do or had in mind, I always feel like I just saw a UFO: I KNOW I saw something, I'm just not sure what it was. I marvel at the musicianship and am moved by it, but it's like someone playing an instrument I know nothing about.

He is a good player and I really enjoy listening to him play, but I cringe when sport terms are used to describe musicians. I just can't view music art as a competition.

I agree, kudos to the guy, or anyone else for their skill, but I wish we could drop terms such as GOAT. It's pointless, as everyone will have different parameters for defining who or what is best. Really declaring someone the GOAT is just saying that they (currently) impress you the most. Next week someone previously unheard off, might become our new GOAT...
