Hammersmith K4 - TalkBass Special Model

What finish should the TalkBASS special model be? (select two)

Metallic gold as long as the flakes were tastefully small and not a big chunky flake.
More like a metallic goldtop.
Yes, I agree.

That kind of soft gold metallic with the a white or cream pickguard would look fantastic.

Not the greatest of sounds, but a starting point. I think Sean had the tone rolled off just a hair, and didn't get into any slap style, but the tone goes from low and thumpy to fairly bright. In the position it's in, it cops a P bass tone fairly well, just ever so slightly tighter since it's a little closer to the bridge.

Sounding good to me.

Is there an option for the angle of the Tuners?
With the size of the headstock and length of arms on the tuner keys, it just felt better with the angle. We can do it either way. The more important thing is that we're likely going with the 3/8" shafts, which have a smaller hole through the headstock and thus a smaller sized ferrule. It's not by much (2mm), but it clears room down the middle for the longer truss rod cover in the design, where we will engrave our name through to the 2nd layer.

Reverse the colors on the tux, chrome hardware, keep the blocked maple fretboard as is. That would seriously rock.
Hardware is easy to switch to chrome if you didn't like the black, it's more the finish of the body+headstock that we are trying to narrow down here. The other options could all look good either chrome or black, so we can do further renders later on, or perhaps give those who ordered a final veto on hardware colors once photo mockups are able to be done.

Tuxedo, bound maple, option to P or reverse P = take my money. At what point are specs nailed down?
I'm pretty sure we'll run a batch of the Tux and the Rootbeer. Only question is if we run a 3rd color. If you wanted a P type, we can give you both pickguard types to do regular or reverse, but the price would change depending on your choice of pickup.

I'd really like to stick to the Alumitones, but if it helps us get more TB specials out, I can flex on the pickups.
.

I was going to order a surf green one, but maybe I would order the talkbass limited color... hmm....

@MarkoYYZ Will the 30" scale be available in the first run, or just the 33"?
We can do either scale. The one you spent time with at NAMM was the 33".

I prefer surf green to any of these choices. I will add another vote to offering a red though.
We can easily offer the Surf Green also, since it will be part of our stock order and offering on the FB pre-order. It's not the TB special model finish, and wouldn't be recognizable as such, but if you order through here we can still do the custom TB part numbering on the back so it would be part of the special run. Any of the 4 standard colors can be ordered here, of course, but the TB model is a different finish to visually differentiate. Maybe we offer it with multiple pickguards/truss covers or something, as the TB bonus, to allow you to change up to the look on occasion?

That would be extremely cool.

And how about this somewhat similar looking bass as the reference point for Rootbeer Metallic with Cream binding?

That is yummy!

The Pelham blue is nice too, but to me it is ingrained as a Gibson color similar to how fiesta red and sonic blue are as Fender colors. Sunburst is kinda everyone's color... the Rootbeer doesn't scream anyone in particular when I see it and just looks really cool on this body shape. Of course that's just my opinion!

I think that the Pelham blue with cream binding and pickguard would be stunning!....

I like the root beer too though.....

Having said that, I'm not going to be in the market until later this year, so, maybe, input from those who are planning to buy the TB Special should be listened to more closely than me...:)

What do you guys think of Pelham Blue for the TB color scheme?

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Pelham blue is cool, though id personally prefer something darker like the Royal Blue Metallic Epiphone uses on the new Casady basses.

What are the chances of a blue model woth binding happening? Instead without, not in addition to.

Maybe poll the people willing to commit to a blue bass with what theyd prefer?

Personally dark blue with binding is number 1 for me. Pelham blue with binding starts making me consider rootbeer
