Hand Sanitizer?

Anybody ever clean their strings with hand sanitizer. I have a lot of it around for obvious reasons.

Well the alcohol content would remove body oils, gunk, etc. I would have some concerns with residue from other ingredients.

Now you have me reading about string cleaners.

Never touched the stuff. Dry wipe downs only all my life.

Does the string manufacturer have any recommendations for cleaning?

I clean mine in gasoline in case the spirit moves me to channel my inner Jimi Hendrix.
