I use at as a stand alone cab, and I really like it...if you like lots of low end with not too much mid-honk, its great. The VX are notorious for "buzzy" horns...so if you like a lot of highs, this may not be for you. I dont use a lot of highs, just enuf to give me some snap when I slap, and to hear the grind when I lay into the strings. It handles the B string well, which was the most important factor when I purchased it...and then of course, there is the price...cant be beat for the money. I like the paper cones more than the aluminum...and the weight was important part too... much lighter than most 215's.

4.5XL owner here, and looking to pick up another one shortly.

I love the tone from the 4.5XL. Its a very precise, immediate tone. It might not be to everyone's liking, especially if you're playing rock music or similar, but I've had a great sound from mine playing loads of different genres of music. My estimation of the company is pretty high too, considering that the store I was buying from was having trouble getting the cab from the supplier, until I contacted Larry Hartke, who personally intervened and made sure I got what I ordered.

Ha Ha it is very metal! But seriously, awesome cabinet. The amount of punch this thing has is incredible, add to this a solid low end and plenty of "crap clankly metallic" high end makes it perfect for metal.

All I need now is a few pedals, a nice custom 5 string P with 36" scale and I am set.

I play with a HA2500 and a VX115.

I have been looking for more volume in my rig though, does anyone have any reccomendations? I was thinking new head or cab, maybe a 410, but which is limiting my overall volume more, my head or my cab? Thanks guys.

I have been thinking about going back to two 4x10 cabs like i used to play but I think I might have to copy your 8x10 setup if for no other reason other than that would intimidate ANY guitarist.

Good luck finding the same head in the USA! ... oh wait, you can. I think its actually an Eden in the US, although I think any tube amp would sound great with this cab

Edit: After googling the US version of the Ashton BV300 is the Eden E300

hi, i have a little problem with my 3500 head. Kind of electronic "bug" in the compressor circuit and i don't know what to do with that. Is there a thread where i can explain that, or is there someone that could to help me with these questions.
