HartkeHydrive 5410C or VX3500 4x10"?

Dont get me wrong, the hydrive sounds great if you don't play really loud. While it was loud enough for one of my alternative punkish band, it didn't even get close to cutting it in my psychadelic rock band. Did i mention its sounds really good too.. very very tight in the low end. But i never considered a second of the same cab, i prefer one small (4x10 or 2x12 or 115) to do the job for me.
Im having really high expectations from the GB Uber 212 arriving soon.

trust me, it doesn't need porting. it's got a pretty doggone big low end.

How do you get the air movement out of such a tight cab?
I would think that an amp "not cutting it" in certain situations, especially with 500W, is a result from lack of headspace, many times created by a poorly-designed cabinet.

i imagine it's the neos they use for the hydrives having more xmax and moving more air, but i could be wrong.

could be. i never cranked the 410 that loud to see. but all 410's have their limits, even if they say they don't.

I completely agree. Almost all 4x10's i've played really limit you on your want for more low end. 15' on the other hand are like sumo wrestlers, big but flabby. 12's seem to sound the best and they sound richer in the mids to me. Please i dont want to get into a speaker size arguement here just sharing personal experience.

I completely agree. Almost all 4x10's i've played really limit you on your want for more low end.

i would add "at very high volumes" to that. at lower volumes it's a piece of cake.

I think I've found that blissful 2x12" cab - The Mesa Boogie 2x12" is AMAZING. I just bought the Carbine M6 2x12" combo, and I can push 600W through those two 12s with no issues. This amp is TIGHT, even when the bass boost is on. I can't stop singing the praises of this thing.
If you are looking to add a 2x12" cab into a head/cab rig, I would give the Mesa a serious look (listen)...

I didn't consider using it at a lower volume

I did look at the Mesa 2x12 but I went for the Genz Benz Uber 212 instead. Lets see what happens. Although i haven't heard either one of them... there's just no gear where I come from
