Has Bass Strings Online fallen off?

I have never had a problem with BSO, and have always got my order quickly. All I ever order though are custom gauge sets of D'Add Prosteels, and if I get two sets (over $25); the shipping is free! Thanks Jason.

I must confess that a short while back I went through JS because they were giving away a free JS brand micro fiber cloth, and those are really nice.

Was it worth the extra $6.50 you had to pay for shipping on a set of strings though? :)

I only recently discovered BSO. I used to order everything from JS. No real complaints with JS. They were always very quick on the shipping and over the years I've never had an issue. But, what can I say. No shipping from BSO (if over $25) even though the string prices are close.

Since I've been ordering from BSO, they have bent over backwards to accommodate me when I screwed up, not one, but two orders by ordering something besides what I really wanted. They quickly changed both orders before the strings went out, even though they were pulled and ready to ship, in one case. There was even a slight price difference that they ate, even though the screw up was my fault in both cases--being a dullard and not paying attention to what I ordered. Well... that kind of thing makes a big difference to me. I won't be screwing any more orders up, but they have my business from now on, assuming they are as quick, courteous, and professional as they have been so far.

Ordered strings about 5 days ago or so......(first time I've ever ordered from BSO.....)

Just got my email today...strings backordered at this time.....

They were Labella 760FL-S...:dead: Not as if these are a rare specie of exotic hard-to-find strings...

When I ordered and didn't get any b/o email I thought I was good to go and was looking forward to the strings being here in maybe a week or so...

Now I'm disgruntled ........and won't be ordering from there again.

WOW!!

Jason just called me personally and we ironed the whole thing out over the phone.......I don't want to go into detail but it wasn't BSO's fault about the strings really.....

Strings are on the way........:D:thumbsup:

With this kind of personal service and customer follow-up, I have to say it was 100% top notch........I don't think I've ever experienced customer-care of this quality in my life before......:woot::)

Absolutely awesome....:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thank you, Jason!!........and yes I will be shopping there again.

Q: Has Bass Strings Online fallen off?
A: Emphatically NO!

My BSO story:

About two months ago I ordered several sets of strings, both my basses were due, and tour was coming up, and I like the zing that comes with new rounds (punk player fwiw) so in went the order. Within 24 hours I got email notification that one or more items was back-ordered (Jason, if I had a nit to pick, it would be that the email notification doesn't identify what was back-ordered, but Lisa made that clear enough when I called in.) Then, like an idiot, I simply waited a week, maybe two, before following up. So I call in and talk to Lisa, with a couple of emails and a couple of phone calls, we got an order that would be able to ship that day, giving me a chance at least of getting the strings in before I left for tour. Lisa indicated that she would be going into the warehouse, picking my order and ensuring it got out that day. I can only assume she was as good as her word, because the night before tour, I had the delivery notification in my PO Box, and the strings were in my hot little hands when they opened the next morning.

Hey, I was the maroon that waited a week or two before reacting, but that never entered the equation, Lisa worked with me like it was BSO's problem, but I know full well who dropped the ferrule...that willingness to attack the problem, simply because it was a problem, without finger-pointing, without weasel-words, without demure...that ensures that Jason and BSO will continue to get the lion's share of my strings business (and if you can get Dava jazz grips, you can have my pick business too!)

I've had nothing but pleasant experiences with Jason and BSO. It's been a few months since I ordered anything, but Jason was always quick to email or PM me back. Not to mention, he pointed out some similar strings, in a balanced tension set, were in the sale bin, so I got to try out another brand of strings for peanuts.

UK based bassist here.
Been using BSO for a couple of years now and the relationship Jason has with both string manufacturers and his customers is second to none. Sometimes I've actually received my strings overseas quicker from him than some shops here in the UK .
The only time I've had to wait a while for some sets (Pedulla, made by Labella) is because they are made to order. No probs with that as I know I'm getting the freshest strings that way.
I've had real time conversations on the PMs here on Talkbass with Jason about different options. Outstanding.
Best in the business !

It's surprising that LaBella, being business for so song, SEEMS to make it common practice to run out of certain lines on a somewhat regular basis (my experiences) with about a month to 6 week lag; would be wrong to bump production up a little where needed to at least lessen the delays read others also mention? Certainly not on Jason, but he ends up being the bearer of bad news, and it seems his presence has only helped most oi not all string manufacturers.

The site is now HTML5 responsive, so technically all platforms are looking at the same site. There is a "mobile site" button which brings up a different format site.

Is there anything specific you are not liking about the "responsive" site? Now that I have been using the "responsive" site for a while I am noticing that I need to change some of the categories because of how they appear on mobile devices... Some of them show a huge listing of every product by the manufacturer so you overlook the button for the categories that break them down in to separate groupings... Although this is not an issue on a desktop with the browser expanded, it is quite annoying on mobile devices.

When you click on something like bass strings by type, nice big icons pop up for a second:

But then they diasapear after the page finishes loading and you get this screen:

You can use the drop down menu to go to the categories and everything works, but it would be nice if the tablet site worked just like it does on a computer.

Not a complaint, just something that'd be nice. I'm on an iPad btw. It works the same way on the iPhone.

Right that's what I'm talking about! Because of the responsive format now if it feels the screen is too small it will do that.

Some of the pages will have a lot of products showing so you don't notice there is the subcategories tab... I'm working on rearranging the products to avoid that.

I'll see if there is a way for the responsive to not get rid of icons so quickly.
