Has Bass Strings Online fallen off?

If bassstringsonline (I won't say BSO because that belongs to the Boston Symphony Orchestra) warehoused near my town, I'd probably buy from them too and I'm sure they'd be fine, but they don't. Just strings does warehouse near me and they're just great. Sometimes I'll still grab a set at the old GC for convenience.

I shop at Just Strings. I can't say how great their customer service is, because I never have to use it. They offer strings. I buy the strings. The strings arrive. I guess I'm missing out on some magical part of the experience.
I used to do the same thing. Then a couple years ago I tried BSO and haven't been back to JS since. Prices are better, service is better and knowledge of what I want is better. He's sourced strings for me that he doesn't carry and in the process even given me a better price than I could have gotten from the normal carriers.

I've only ever had to call BSO about an error one time. There was supposed to be a refund hitting my credit card for a transaction that was changed. I got my credit card bill a couple of weeks later and didn't see the refund listed. So I called Jason and explained the situation. He ever so politely listened to my complaint then asked me to double check the credit card bill. Yep, there was an error all right, and it was MINE. The refund was listed on the flip side of the bill (damn 2 sided documents). Needless to say I felt like a real fool. Jason could have changed the tone in his voice or got short or snippy with me for wasting his time but he didn't. Being the perfect customer satisfaction professional that he is, he let me know that he was relieved there was no issue and thanked me for the call.

All my string business continues to go his direction. I wonder, can I get Alembic strings from BSO?

Just be glad you never had a problem.
I ordered four sets of five string LaBella flats from them. When they arrived three of the sets had the wrong strings in the pack. When I called them they told me to take it up with LaBella. $200 worth of strings and they tell me to call LaBella??
It took more than ten calls to LaBella and two months to get that mess sorted out.
That was not my first order with them. I spent over $600 on strings from them over the years and that's how I got treated. Never again will I order from them.
It's been BSO sense then. I know Jason will take care of a problem if one arises.

I just bought an MB800 Fusion from Jason this month. there was a problem with the temperature sensor and so the fans were on high all the time. Between Christine at Gallien Krueger and Jason at BSO, they made it right, right away. I was impressed with the service from both of them. Haven't ordered strings from them, yet. You know I will from now on though.
Cheers!

If prices are going to stay low (like we like them) the expense of this would change the equation.

I wonder if BSO would mind if I/we all called before ordering just to make sure the set I/we all want is in stock.

Real time inventory has been implemented for just over a month now. Yes it takes up a lot of my time but I have kept prices the same.

You are welcome to Call / Email / Text anytime with any questions regarding stock or anything else etc...

Jup. Bassstringsonline is my choice. Even with shipping overseas to Norway, prices are competitive, and there is no equal when you combine that with the customization possibilities and the great customer service. I can understand that things go on back order from time to time with this enormous selection of possibilities.

Similar experience as op here. Jason has been very helpful. But I would prefer a little more initiative while approaching me to tell me that u don't have the strings I want in stock, instead of me asking u after wondering for a few weeks. Overall he's still a nice guy and no worries bout dealing with him.

You should be getting an email within 24 hours letting you know if your order is in stock or not. Please PM me your email address so I can make sure it is accurate. Check your SPAM folder too for that email.

For my needs up here in Canada, I've switched to JS. In part it's because I play a number of stringed instruments other than bass. Mostly, though, it's a great difference in delivery times. By whatever means, my JS orders arrive in just a couple of days; my BSO orders have taken much longer for nominally in stock items. USPS, Canada Post, and customs are all mysterious organizations. However, JS seems to negotiate those hurdles better and speed is worth something to me.

I'm don't know if thats what happened to my order but yeah it takes a long while to be processed and stuff, I may not order strings from them anymore but I'll still get picks for a great price. Strings are something I would like toreceive within a 3-5 day period so I'll order from Amazon. But I don't need picks in a rush so I can get the from them (BSO)

I too have been ordering from Jason/BSO online for a couple years. Ive never been let down by him. I think he has the best if not highly competitive pricing around. Plus hes a great dude to do business with. Up until recently though, I too have been getting some holdup on what my string of choice is, D'addario Pro Steels. I get an order confirmation email but then nothing. Im used to getting a shipping notice either the same day I ordered or the next. Hes always been great with it. But since they went through that big switch, moved to a different place and started carrying different things, it seems like that has changed. I havent had a set of strings ship the same day or day after in the last few months.

Now, Im not sure if the expansion has caused certain things to change a little, Im sure they have. And its expected. I still love BSO, I still continue to buy my strings from them. I guess I felt I should speak up being a regular customer and someone who is used to their regular ord and shipping times. I know Since I've ordered the last few months, I haven't gotten a "backorder email", I just get an order notification email. Then nothing. I usually end up emailing Jason to ask. He always gets back to me with the quickness and has made any issues with customer issues totally right. And again, quickly. So in other words, I have noticed a slight delay/change in the way my orders have been getting to me, but all I did/do is/was reach out to Jason and he always takes care of me. Top rate guy running a great business. I hope BSO is around for years to come. What a great resource for bassists. Plus, his prices rock! If I have to wait a week or two for strings, I could. Well, most times.

So, THANKS JASON AND BSO!! You guys rock.
