I make every effort possible to get all my bass strings from there, and nowhere else. The customer service has been fantastic!

Sorry, I think I wasn't clear in my post about that. I didn't infer that you or any other online retailer was sitting around waiting to get it out but instead may have systems in place to get products purchased shipped from their distributors as quickly as they could have if it were in stock. It isn't a criticism, but rather a speculation as to changes in the landscape of online retailing/inventory control etc.
I was thinking that may have been the case when I ordered my Pressurewounds that were in stock and then they shipped from GHS directly. I don't really care where my strings were when I purchased them, just that the arrive when I expect them.
Honestly sorry for any confusion - I continue to be thoroughly impressed with BSOL and will probably always get my strings there.![]()
All I can add to this is that BSO is by far the best online place for bass strings first of all and with the new instruments, amps and other accessories he's added to his inventory it's only gotten better. He's got a good crew at BSO, great prices, selection of brands, and excellent customer service. If somethings wrong he'll make it right. I've been a customer for a few years now and since I left Texas for Los Angeles two years ago I'm lucky enough to have his store close to my home, maybe 5 minutes away depending on traffic, I'm really lovin' that part of it. BSO is run by an ass kicking bass player who is totally devoted to our needs as players.
I totally agreed with you, great prices and service!! I used to drive out of my way on way home from work to get strings, half the time they were out of stock and always too expensive. Now they show up at my door and they're cheaper!! I've never had an issue with BSO!
Jason:
Thanks for all your good work and service. You are a great asset to the bass players of the world. You should be congratulated and put on the cover of Bass Player Magazine.
I've received nothing but stellar service from BSO over the past few years and am always happy to do business with Jason.

I've had no problems. One set of La Bella's were taking their sweet time getting to BSO, so shortly after I'd placed my order BSO contacted me directly to say so, and gave me the option of cancelling that set, having the others shipped immediately and waiting for those, or waiting until they came in to ship the whole order. I appreciated the email and was in no rush, so opted to wait until everything was in stock before they shipped my order. Awesome customer service and a TB discount... I'll stick with them.
I don't think it's BSO, I think it was specifically DR - they went through a product naming / packaging cutover recently, and there was quite a lull in shipping during the changeover, from what I infer. (Marcus Miller dropping the Fat Beam sponsorship was only one aspect.)
Exact same thing here. I appreciated the response from them and decided to keep on using them. My problem wasn't BSO ignoring things, it was La Bella's turnaround on their orders and anyway it was for Quarter round strings for my Jag SS. I'm sure those are kept in stock all the time.![]()
I've only ordered from them once. I got a 6-string set of Swing 66s and a 4-string package of Blue Steels. Ordered on Jan. 24, was notified they were out of stock on Jan. 28, and they were shipped on March 3. I was a bit surprised at how long it took, but it wasn't anything I needed right away so it wasn't a big deal for me.
The prices were good, so it's likely I'll order again sometime, but it's definitely good to hear that there's more info available to the customer before ordering now. I'd rather support a small domestic vendor than a big box online store if at all possible.
This would make sense to me, as I had an order with a single Hi-Beam that was delayed. When it arrived, the DR packaging was different.
The new Yellow envelopes? That is their new inner paper sleeve that is supposed to stop corrosion. (which is really more of a problem with plain steel strings more than anything else)
Has the best place for a bassist to shop for strings and other musical gear fallen off?
I think not.
I have ordered from BSO a couple of times so far,(all DR of course) and have not had a single issue, mistakes happen, no big deal, the reason I will keep on ordering is because Jason is excellent at customer service,to me thats just as important as the product, I know Im not alone in my thinking here, I will continue to order my strings from them. Please send me a PM or eMail with any questions regarding orders.
In the beginning of March we implemented real time inventory on the website. Items now list "In Stock" or have a "shipping time window" listed. Unfortunately there seems to be some confusion with it and I am working on addressing it. Items will state "In Stock" but once you select a specific set, it will switch to that specific sets stock status and many users do not notice that change I'm afraid.
We work very closely with DR. We receive multiple shipments from them every week. Unfortunately about a month ago they had a new shipping person that was making a lot of errors leaving out product / shipping incorrect product etc. They replaced the shipping person but during this time many orders got backed up. We are getting caught up with them again however.
Before making this post I sent off a purchase order to DR for more Sunbeams as yes it does look like my stock needs to be increased on some of the sets. So hopefully this will not be a problem going forward.
I do apologize for any delays when they do occur but we are always trying to keep customers updated with specific information about their orders.
I am always available via eMail, PM, or Text so please feel free to ask anything anytime.
Lol, sarcasm rocks!I shop at Just Strings. I can't say how great their customer service is, because I never have to use it. They offer strings. I buy the strings. The strings arrive. I guess I'm missing out on some magical part of the experience.
