And I think the beard is awesome, I think its killer that they are older and still kicking more ass than half of these new bands......besides,I got the RIB album when I was in 8th grade, Im 41 now and listening to them makes me feel young again.I hope they are rockin wheelchairs and walkers onstage 20 years from now!
I'm not a big fan of Araya's constant yelling voice he's used for the last 4?
As opposed to the soothing deep sexy voice he used on all their previous work?
No, I was thinking of his more barbershop quartet stuff.
The funny thing about the level of bass mixing in slayers song varies a lot. Sometimes I can't hear it at all and sometime like say, the intro to Angel of Death I can sort of hear it but yeah any sound picture without a clear level of bass mix isn't really my type of thing. Though I like Slayer a lot...I'm not a big fan of Araya's constant yelling voice he's used for the last 4? albums but yeah it's impressive that they're still going strong and that his voice still sounds fierce.
That new song was good. Stupid video though. I couldn't hear the bass but then again, I wasn't expecting to.

Thats how I feel about Rush. And BTW, I LOVE Rush, Geddy Lee is one of the best vocalist/Bassist to grace the face of this wretched planet, but I just dont dig the newer stuff,Slayers peak was South Of Heaven, but just like Rush, they still kick ass!The bass is very present in Hell Awaits. I don't know about Show No Mercy. I haven't heard that one in a long time.
I've been meaning to give the newer SLAYER stuff a good listen but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Every time I put on one of the albums made in the last 15 years, I get bored and turn it off :/
On the 3rd pic down, the new bass, what are the inlays?Tom Araya's active ESP basses only have 3 knobs.

On top of that, most of his personal basses have a single knob.

Plus, all of EMG's passive pickups are HZs. If it was an EMG-HZ, you'd see the longer logo.
Edit: Much to my surprise, I actually found the exact bass he uses for the Repentless video on google.

Everything else hes buried, I even have an older magazine somewhere where Jeff and Kerry talk about how *they'd* rather do the bass tracks to save time, don't know if they actually ever did this though
Out of all their albums, I can only here Tom on of course "hell awaits", that pre show no mercy single "aggressive perfect or"(or whatever its called??) and "undisputed attitude" (covers, I know!!)....

I think that one's called Haunting The Chapel.
The facts are this, he plays bass in, and gets paid a lot of money to be in, a very popular , instantly recognizable metal band..........and we are on a website discussing his ability, lol.
Yeah, Tom Araya and Stanley Clarke wouldnt have much to talk about, but, I dont think Stanley Clarke would be a good fit for Slayer......see?!....see how that works?! Lol

It was re-released on Haunting, but it was on a metal blade compilation before show no mercy IIRC, unless I'm totally mixed up on this
