I only use my all-tube Ad200 for recording and for shows, I have a Terror 1000 I use for practice and since it's so small I take it as a backup to gigs as well.

Is this just a reason to buy more gear? I get that, but is it more about different flavors or the actual NEED for a backup?
Oh yes, I have those, alkaline and rechargable. 9v and AA.Batteries...... You forgot batteries!![]()
How did you like the Elf?I’ve never had to use a backup at any of my own gigs, but I was managing the stage for a good-sized show where the whole backline was provided by the sound tech. His bass head failed and the bass player’s Elf came to the rescue.
It did the trick powering a big 8x10 Ampeg box all night without a hitch and sounded fine. Of course, it had PA support since it was in a large ballroom with 600 people. Most importantly, it came to the rescue. How did you like the Elf?
I played Peaveys for years. No tone to speak of, but gee whiz you could throw (and I'm talking about the Made In Mississippi gear, not that Chinese crap they sell now) them down two flights of stairs and they'd 'take a lickin' and keep on tickin' '.
