Have you found "the" bass type yet?

Four strings, generally fretted. After that, all comers are welcome! I got a P, J, EB-3, a handmade, a headless . . . they're all good in their own way, for their own thing.
I have never found one bass that can "do it all" perfectly. Some are more versatile than others, some are more complicated than they need to be. I'm pretty well set and covered with my ATK, J bass, Bronco and P basses. However I do find that the P is the type I play the most.
In the last few years I have gone through a Fender P, Fender Jazz, Warwick, Ibanez Prestige, Lakland 55-01, 55-02, Bongo 5 and I have finally settled on a Dingwall Afterburner 5, WOW! Incredible tone and feel. Looking forward to another Dingwall in the future! (might keep the Bongo though)
I love Jazz style basses, and basses with Music Man style humbuckers. They can be either Stingray style or 55-94 style.

I found out lately the Jazz Bass is thé bass for me. I now have four:
And I find that I can do everything with them. Subtle ballads, heavy rock, swinging jazz and kick-butt funk, they can do it all.
Do you have a feeling like that as well with e.g. a Stingray, Precision or Rickenbacker?

Precision for me. Find they sound great for every type of music I play and sit in the mix perfectly. I'd like to like jazzes too but I can't stand the thin necks so I'm sticking with Precisions. Although one day I'd like to make/buy a bass with a jazz body and a precision neck to play certain styles of music with.

I don't even have enough
Well, having (only) 5 basses I'd have a hard time to choose "the" one of them. But I like to rotate. I always like to get back to every one of them. But it is not that I still have to search for the bass suited to me. If I'd loose all my present gear the model I'd always come back to is the Fender American Deluxe Jazz (preferably a pre-04).
4 is a magic number. I also have 4. But no two are exactly the same in terms of strings, bridges, body woods, necks, pickups etc...I have 4 very distinct sounding basses, yet all 4 sound like a jazz bass. Kinda neat...
Fender Jazz 5. These have the perfect feel. I usually change the preamps and a J-Retro is the go for me, but as for playability and feel a Fender J 5, and I've tried them all.
