Headless Club???

One of my newest friends. 32" Bendwell, 16.5mm spacing, dual/single coil switch!!

After I posted before, I looked up the current prices and it's a little under UKP3000 / $A5600 / $US4050. Add shipping and taxes on the lot and it would be $A6500, well out of my price range. The new EHB is about 1/3 that.

Yes but is sooooo sexy to me. It's as if a Steinberger L2 broke free of its soul-less angularity but wanted to stay minimalist...

I do wish they offered it in true 32" and not with the bendwell...

You saying my beloved XL2 is soulless? I'd say it was svelte and the pivot plate/Boomerang systems are unequalled for comfort.

Means people can still use DB strings which some prefer, and the Status ones are pretty good.

Mostly because I'm insanely jealous and also bitter having sold my XP2 back in the 90's out of necessity. If I imagine it having a sterile sound, I can sleep better at night knowing I'll probably never hold one, let alone own one.

My headless mount Rushmore would be an L2, an Ex-Factor, a Streamliner, and a Boden with the EHB getting an honorable mention.

You're forgiven then. I used to sleep with the XL2.

Check. Had the XL2 since new in 86 and have the HBCS PUs that are (apparently) the same as the L2 to go in after the move.

an Ex-Factor,
Had one, sent the woodwork out for refinishing and after an accident lost track of it. I'll explain further when I know more. Still have all the hardware and electronics.

a Streamliner
I have an early S3000. Close enough?

and a Boden
I'd be interested in one too, but too much $. Not convinced it's worth the upcharge over the EHB.

I'm looking seriously at the EHB1265MS. Awaiting availability and ordering specifics.

Honourable mentions:
Hohner B2 black: getting HB/HBCS combo as soon as the router template turns up for the battery holder. Also an insert for the Boomerang so it can sub for the XL2 which will never leave the house again. This project is now in Y2, because of procrastination.
Hohner B2 red: stock, mint, 2nd owner.
Hohner B2V. Brass jaws and SB adapter from previous owner.
Steinberger Spirit XL2 yellow: stock. Ebay and bourbon sometimes have unintended consequences.
Steinberger Spirit HSS guitar, Korean era, black.
Steinberger Spirit HSH guitar, red, on the way.

I have enough parts to make 3 more headless basses, 2 6s and a 5. Need to get my luthiery skills up before that happens, but my business partner (non MI gear) is a luthier.

I think I like headless instruments.

I'm in the same boat but without the disposable income (or bourbon)
To be fair, the bourbon was only responsible for the banana, and I almost never drink at all these days.
The rest cost me, on the whole surprisingly little. Red B2 '17/$US250, Red guitar '21/ $US200, Yellow XT2 (new) '18/$US300 with the rest being pre '06 or so and the Status ('01) and Kubicki ('06) cost about $US700ea. All the rest, especially those bought in late C20 were really cheap as no one wanted headless basses back then.
The only reason I'm contemplating the new EHB is I'm selling a home in the city and moving back to the country or else I wouldn't have the cash.

While I've always loved the look of the Kubikis, I'm curious, are the tuners direct pull (a la Steinberger) or winding around a peg?
Here's a video that explains it better than I can in words. HTH.

Cool so it's "wound around a peg", but its a really wide diameter peg with less twisting than a conventional tuner...
