Headless Club???

I've a Spirit obviously Headless, for this kind of instruments i prefer double ball instead of fixer catcher because double ball are more intonated and last longer.
Obviously tey're more expensive than conventional string....and nowadays are troubling to find because no more producted in larger quantitatives.

Personally not a fan of double ball as none of the major string companies that make double outside of status have wowed me in tone. I will say a lot of people especially on TalkBass praise Status for their wide variety of Double Ball sets at a fair price. What I hear though is the wait time of getting them is a burden. I think it took a member here 2 months to get their bulk order sent to the U.S.

Today in my experience there are La Bella double Ball, not discontinue but expensive and Status double Ball affordable. Here in Italy D'oOrazio strings made double ball string not expensive but not as cheap as status. I think also D'Addario and Galli String made 2 balls.

Yep still making them although they tend to go dead within a couple days for me

That makes no sense to me. The volume of items between the UK/US would be far greater than UK/AUS. Plus, you're a fraction of the distance.

Yeah.....I don't think the evil government is to blame here.

I've ordered standard strings (i.e. non double-ball) from Status and received them in two weeks. My guess is the 2 month wait time was probably due to being out of stock, perhaps some issue with their supplier, etc.

Heck, I get stuff from China on occasion, never anything like a two month wait. Usually two weeks or so via cheap shipping. I'd think the evil government would be just as concerned with stuff from China, if not more so.

Looking for some advice on an XP-2 that's coming my way.
The tech that's been getting up to speed has replaced two claws and can't get two of the strings - not sure which ones - up to pitch. Headless U.S.A. has told me that the only strings that are sure to be calibrated for these are D'addario and La Bella. I don't know yet what brand he tried but I'm wondering whether there are other factors at play. Headless didn't offer any other reasons apart from a bad neck but it's apparently in very good condition despite the tuning issue.
Would a headstock adapter solve this by allowing me to use standard strings ?
I'm a bit premature with my question as I haven't seen the bass yet and have a set of La Bella's coming to install that I hope will work. I'm willing to send it across the lake to Rochester if needed as the price for the bass is silly low and there's some room in my budget for a real fix by these guys if I have to.

Depends on what's causing it. Are they running out of travel, or are they encountering too much friction? Those tuner bridges need to be lubricated.

If it's a travel issue, perhaps a small collar at the small-ball end, to take up a smidge of string length?

This sounds like a recipe for disaster while I have experienced this issue many times before. It is best to take apart the bridge and loosen the tuning pegs to apply some kind of lubrication. It may be from collected dirt over the years and I had recently done this on my XM2 where the previous seller never mentioned that the D string was hard to turn/pitch to tune.

A headless adaptor will not work for your current situation but will work as an alternative outside of double ball strings. You already did the right thing and purchased a set of La Bella's so I'd wait for them to arrive. Talk to your tech about the bridge before stringing the set of La Bella's.

The tech is familiar with these but it's trade-in at a store so it's hard to say how deep he's looked.
The issue is with the travel so I'll do a cleaning & lube when it comes and try the new strings.

To determine the year the serial number would help. The body is definitely Newburgh (until 1991, maybe very early in 1992), and after that there were no instruments with binding made.
