Headless full carbon fiber bass

Stealth? This looks more like a single pickup prototype of the Streamliner.

Thanks for your replies. I've played this bass at two rehearsals and at home. I really like the sound I get out of it. This is the first full carbon instrument I've played and I have to say those carbon fiber pioneers (Ned Steinberger, Geoff Gould, Rob Green) were on something great when they made their first carbon fiber instruments.
 
That is amazing. How do you join both top and bottom halves together?

"If you look carefully you may see a small cavity for a fillet carved on the back. I filled it with silica/graphite thickened epoxy, laid a layer of thickened epoxy on the foam and pressed the top over the foam." I used painters tape to keep the parts together until epoxy cured.
 
Wow!!! Very nice work. Carbon bass is also on my to do list since since I also got the carbon bug. I really want to make a carbon acoustic bass. Seams like the process would very similar except without the core. Do you have any idea if the weave bias has any effect on the sound? I have a bunch of uni directional carbon from previous projects that I would like to use with a twill cover. Any tips for an acoustic DIY project?

Ah I see now. So is there a visible seam when you look at the side of the bass where the two parts are joined?
 
This is way cool. Working with carbon fiber takes serious cahones. I'd be very, very curious to hear what a hollow - or at least chambered version would sound like. Even with such a small body I'd imagine the inherent strength of CF would mean you'd have plenty of space to work with.
