Anybody use those aluminum/titanium filters, the Isolates or whatever?
Is there any other kind of custom in ear plugs that allow you to hear the bass better while cutting down on the drums and electric guitar.
I've been using Etymotics. They're pretty good at that. They're not custom, though.
I was using them but now onto the solid metal ones that I forget the name of. Much improved for not a lot more $.These are good. I use them when not having IEM at rehearsals.

ime they are flatter and quite a bit quieter than the Etymotics. Ety squash the highs a little too much but comfy and whatyagonnado for twenty bucks can't be beat. I reckon you should give these newfangled ones a shot if you are wanting a bit more attenuation. The Flare Isolates look interesting, but I'm a little dismayed by not being able to find any hard data on them. I saw one chart that claimed up to 50 db attenuation on their Kickstarter page, but they were using a signal that was only 80 db to begin with. And they charge double for titanium earplugs when the regular aluminum plugs do pretty much the same job. So if anyone knows where hard data exists on them, please link me.
Interesting. I do notice that the Etys leave more bass response in than treble and mids. When you say the Etys are more comfy, do you mean the Flares aren't very comfy?ime they are flatter and quite a bit quieter than the Etymotics. Etys are way more comfortable than any foam I tried. The Flares are nearly as forgettheyarein.Interesting. I do notice that the Etys leave more bass response in than treble and mids. When you say the Etys are more comfy, do you mean the Flares aren't very comfy?
That's pretty cool. Well maybe I will give them a shot when my current Etys run their course.Etys are way more comfortable than any foam I tried. The Flares are nearly as forgettheyarein.
I have to admit that earplugs who use reducing the bass response more than other plugs as a selling point are not much of a selling point for me. It's what I like about the Etys.I recently tried the flares - I went back to my Etys. The flares are about the same as the cheap foam one if you seat them in your ears properly. The first couple times I used them I liked them but that was because I didn't have them pushed in properly. I'm trying the Earasers next.
Which Etys are you using? I like the newest model ( ER20XS ) better than the older one.I have to admit that earplugs who use reducing the bass response more than other plugs as a selling point are not much of a selling point for me. It's what I like about the Etys.
Says ER20 on the packaging. 12db cut.Which Etys are you using? I like the newest model ( ER20XS ) better than the older one.
Get yurself the newer ER20XS - significantly flatter IMO and you get to lose the alien antenna lookSays ER20 on the packaging. 12db cut.
Maybe when I wear out or lose the ones I have now. Got no complaints about them, really.Get yurself the newer ER20XS - significantly flatter IMO and you get to lose the alien antenna look.
