Heavy Bass Distortion

Well, the Bluebeard covers all the midrange high gain stuff. The Tall Font Russian covers all the lowrange high gain stuff. The Unpleasant Surprise covers all the highrange high gain stuff. B3K covers all the full range low gain stuff. And now the El Oso covers most of the low/mid range mid-gain stuff.

I couldn't get much other than fuzz like tones or Rat like tones from the elements with my setup. I have all the fuzz I need, and Rats aren't to my taste. I probably should have experimented with it more, but I was impatient to try new things. Probably an effect I'll revisit one day. But I'm pretty sure what I currently have covers what it can do.

I mostly used it on the guitar board, but again, redundant with the Full Bore Metal, the Monarch, and now Megalith Delta (which is pretty amazing).

I'd try either an EHX Metal Muff or a Line 6 Uber Metal. Both have pretty extensive EQ and both are hi gain pedals. I actually like the Line 6 quite a bit. 3 different brands of distortion PLUS a built in noise gate. They're not exactly boutique or vintage quality, but they make some pretty darn good sounding effects.

Ya the high gain on the Elements is Rat like, on some settings. I do miss my TFR and will probably scoop that one up again, infact the two pedals I miss the most are the TFR and the Submarine.

Yeah... I'm selling the El Oso, but only cuss I can't seem to get the distortion I want out of it. Not it's fault, it's a dam fine distortion effect, just not the flavor I had in mind.

It doesn't sound like a rat, really, but does have that standard 70's-90's distortion sound. Mid-rangy, honky, buzzy somewhat. Most of the low end is intact, like 98% of it it seems.

No low boost like the TFR... that thing is redicalus with the low-range (why I love it so...)

I want a low-range, gravely .... hmmmm.... like if Nathan Explosion's voice came through my bass amp when I hit the strings .... That's what I want.

I may experiment more with the Bluebeard/El Oso with amp eq'ing combination again while I wait to sell it.

El Oso > B3K gave me the best results, but the B3K makes everything sound delicious.

This thread inspired some serious gas on my end. After sound checking, I walked over to Ludlow Guitars and tried out the TFR (based on Vlad's praise) and the Pickle Pie (for ****s and giggles) and loved them both. The TFR sounds really big in the low end. I just need to do a shootout with the TAFM to find my 3rd flavor of fuzz for my board.

Never tried an Agro, though demos and descriptions lead me to believe it's not what I'm after either.

I had a TAFM and it fills a totally different space than the TFR. It's much more mid-range, no low-end boost, and has a rather broad frequency range, so you have lots of fuzz options with it. And of course you get a gated fuzz. Versatile, if I could only have one fuzz, type of thing.

Just wondering, were you using the BB with, or without the tone bypass? I am not sure I would have liked it as much without the tone bypass I have on my BB. I really dig that pedal.

Here is what I use:

B7K with parallel out and wet signal into X-Blender with about 70-30 wet/dry mix. The X-Blender allows me to really get aggressive with the distortion and still have a thumpy low end. I also add in my POG2 with 50% dry and 50% -1 octave. Depending on the key of the song, I may also mix in the -2 octave. That is definitely a head turner. I also have a Source Audio MWBD that gets the same treatment with the X-blender and POG2. I find the X-blender essential for my sound.

I've been using the BB with the bypass always on since I got it. I'm not interested in the other option cus the TFR covers that sound.
