Hello to everyone. I've just joined, but definitely a long time lurker. I am primarily a drummer, but I've recently found myself getting into the bass - after Davey504 told me what a superior instrument it is. 
That guy is hilarious (and talented). My 8 year old son has also taken up bass, and together we are learning. I've always been fascinated by how a great bass player can carry a song.
I recently purchased a Fender Studio Bass amp and pretty much had my face melted by so much tube goodness. It seems to have 1970's Sylvania tubes in it and a very fragile 15" speaker. It needs a fix or two, but the tone... Oh the tone... So easy to under-estimate what that amp is capable of. I definitely need help fixing this thing, and I saw so many awesome posts on talkbass - it became time for me to join in.
