Help date me Jag bass plz.

Bought a Fender Jag bass over the wknd. Went to guitar dater and came up empty so I could use a little help-serial number is by he neck pocket-"CIJ" -S061100. Did a search here and not much came up. I know this subject has come around alot but just need a helpful hand. Thanks to anyone that can help. Off to work now and will come back and check around midnite. Thx to all.

Also, beware of the Jag hum (or buzz).

Unless the previous owner shielded it properly, prepare yourself for a little shielding job of your own as the active electronics on the Jags out of the factory are noisy!

Which leads me to a question for other Jag owners... did any of you find you shielded it, and still had a noisy bass? Just me? :hmm:

Did you shield all of the switch cavities and connect all of them together? And connect to the metal plates?

Did you use copper foil?

A big job on those jags - the best I have seen used conductive paint + copper foil and that seems to do the job.

It can be done! Although, there will always be a TINY bit of hummmmm.
