help! I cant play with a pick!

Accualy my tech is similar when I used to pick; I'd hook my pinky under the G string (sounds kinky) so that way I could flat pick and It goes alot faster.

Download Misirlou (Pulp Fiction Intro) and practice playing that, but very slowly and using alternate picking. I doubt you could get as fast as on the record as it is a guitar that does the main riffs, but it is a good picking practice.

I have attached the tab. Please, no messages about tab being bad Mkay ;)

Oh yeah, the tab isn't exactly right, but it is pretty easy to work out the missing notes.

I used to have to same problem but i just worked through it, it really helps playing nada surf and blink songs cos i can't get the speed with my fingers.

But i problem i've been having recently is that there's a load scratchy/fuzz sound when i play on open string with a pick(75mm). When i play closed there's no scratchy noise at all.

Any idea what's up?

Well, you can get the speed of pick bands like blink and nada surf if you... guess...

PRACTICE! I can play blink and other punk stuff that use picks fingerstyle just fine if I practice it enough. As a matter of fact, my band is playing "damnit" by blink for a talent show (even though I dont want to). I just dont get the pick sound out of it.

As for your scratchy/fuzzy problem, it could be your neck or strings. I dunno.

As for myself, I've gotten a little better with the pick, but I'm gonna stick with the good `ol index and middle for now.

After a lot of practice, i've been able to play alot faster with my fingers now, i just practiced for 30 minutes a day playing as fast as i could for as long as possible - it helped strengthen my fingers a great deal.

I still need to use a pick sometimes though, because i don't get the right sound with my fingers.

Just because I have a piece of plastic in my hand, I don't know what I am doing right?

And god forbid I look like I don't know what I'm doing...I mean, it doesn't matter if I am, just as long as I look good right?
