I am about to buy one, maybe 2 pedals. I am starting a small pedalboard. I don't need anything crazy. I am looking at the Aguilar Tone Hammer V2 tied to a UAFX 1176 compressor or the JHS Punchline. Here is what I have and do... I have a Modulus Q5 with EMG pre/pups, Fender PJ (relentless pickups tied to an Audere classic 2 band pre) and a G&L Trib L2000. I play mainly at church right now... not the new stuff, mainly older hymnals and newer hymnals and I also play in a country band. All I have for an amp is a Mesa Walkabout 12. A lot of details, I know.

I love the tone of the Aguilar. I like being able to have a drive channel that I can switch between. I think the drive on the TH is better than the Punchline. But... the Punchline has way more options and can probably get close to the TH tone I like. I doubt the built in compressor would even come close to comparing to the 1176 pedal.

So that is where I am... i have nowhere close to be able to demo either. Basically I am getting what I know from Youtube. You guys seem to be a great source of experience. Give me your thoughts... please, hold the standard comments of... get which one works for you or get the one you like. Asking for real world experience as I can't demo one without ordering it first.

i have all three of the pedals that you mentioned. IMO , both of the Aguilar Tone hammers (V1 & V2) don't allow switching from clean to drive without a hugh volume boost ( i wish that they would've addressed that on the V2). I like the UAFX 1176 alot but find that i use my Origin Effects Cali76 bass compressor more.
as far as the Punchline goes, i find to be an excellent all in one (clean, drive & comp) but i don't use the cab sim since i find it too scooped for my taste.

You just possibly saved me a headache. That’s why I ditched the TH 1. I wanted to be able to switch between regular and AGS. I was like… why did they miss that lol. I’d have to adjust gain on the fly and hope I didn’t piss off FOH lol.
