So I've realized that after playing bass for 15 years, EXCLUSIVELY on neck-thru basses, I just can't connect with any bolt-on basses.

I think its the amount of sustain on a neck-thru and actually being able to feel the bass vibrating against my belly, idk.

please tell me your recommendations, "natural" stain/colors only, 6 stringer, and around 1000.

thank you tb'ers!!

Take a good look at Carvin. For $1,000, you'll probably have to go to the used market. Still, there should be plenty of natural wood finishes available. Search for an LB76, BB76 or an Icon 6.

I'll second that. If you want a new one, you can get a barebones LB76 for about $1,000. XB (extra long scale) and BB (extended upper horn) versions are small upcharges. The Icons are a bit pricier. No upcharge for natural finish (your choice of tung oil, clear gloss, or satin matte).

Their standard body wood is alder, not the most exciting look for natural wood finish. For another $40 you can get ash, and $50 will get you mahogany. Other woods are also available, but get more costly.

In your price range, I can think of no other neck-thru 6er that comes close to competing with a Carvin.
