Happy Thanksgiving and such!

Im currently "borrowing" an Epifani 502 head and two UL seris 2 Cabs (a 15 and a 2x10, both with tweeters)

This is the only amp ive played through for the past 8 months, although i have experience with Ampeg, Markbass and others i dont have a good reference point other than an Ampeg 6x10 paired with an SVT 4 pro that i use occasionally.

I would describe the Epifani as Hi-Fi and very "open", and the Ampeg as boomy and tubey...if that helps.
I much prefer the Epifani.

I'd like to invest in a "Dream rig", an 8x10 and a good head with a parametric EQ, although i can go with a 6x10, the head has to have a para EQ.

What say you? Budget is $2500.

I like to be able to boost and cut mid frequencies, as in multiple mid frequencies, not just one sweep knob. I imagine a low and high mid sweep would do.

I'm thinking along the lines of eden, mesa carbine m9 or an svt 4 pro. An Ampeg 8x10 is in my future, unless I can find an arguement that a 6x10 sounds better.

The swr goliath sr is what's up. I mean kinda a weird one but the funkiest cab I ever played through was a Henry the 8x8.

The 6 10 cab is a vented cab and therefore a bit "boomy." The 8 10 is a sealed cab and will not seem as "boomy" so as far as what your requirements are , I think the 8 10 will solve that problem for you.
I run an 8 10 with a tube head and NO para. eq. I don't miss it at all and I can get any sound i want just by dialing in three knobs and pushing two buttons. For the most part , I almost never have to touch and knobs during a gig and usually only have to tweek one or two of them at the start of a gig depending on the room we are playing in. YMMV

My dream rig, ever since I played one, was a Epifani PS-400 over an Eden 210. It was so articulate, but had this wonderful warmth and punch to it. It was perfect. I think an Epifani head with an Eden 810 would be sweeeet.

In my experience, speakers have much more impact on the sound than the head does, so I doubt you will find a head that sounds Hi-Fi through an Ampeg 810E. If you get a chance, plug the Epifani head into one and you will see what I mean.

A Bergantino NV 610 will slay an ampeg 8x10 ime/ imho.
But for hi-fi, I agree that a sealed cab with no horn won't be helpful toward that type of tone goal.
I'd opt for something ported, with a horn.

GB Shuttle 9.2 or GK MB-800 with your choice of para EQ pedal somewhere in the chain. .

Two 410s @ 8 ohms. I like Avatar stuff, but get whatever you like.

I would not buy an Ampeg 810 unless I wanted to sound like an Ampeg 810. Since you don't want to sound like that either, don't buy one.

With that kind of budget you could really afford to do this right. Get yourself some Greenboy-designed cabs. They're the very definition of hi-fi and transparent. You could run them as PA mains. And they're the most efficient cabs you're going to find anywhere, with a single 15 easily doing the work of a commercial 410. My dream rig is a pair of Fearless 112 cabs and 800 or so clean, solid state watts to drive them.

A hi-fi head with a sealed 810 seems counter-intuitive to me. If it has to be an 810, I know there are a some ported and tweeted versions, so I would only consider those.

Since you have the budget, at least demo smaller, multiple cabs (ie pair of 4x10). Think about your load in. Also, maybe fEARful.

This thread should really be about the head at this point. I've found an 8x10 on CL for $500 in great condition, I can grab an svt4 or M9 and a HiFi 4x10 to hit both ranges

Aguilar 751 and 2xDB410 or DB412 or DB410/115. More headroom than you will ever need. You have the urge to sound like a vintage SVT? Pair it with Tech 21 VT Bass Rackmount Preamp.
