Go to Warmoth and get a guard cut from their black/red/black material. With a beveled edge it gives you a black guard with a slick red pinstripe.

I'm a fan of black pickguards, and in your case, I'd still stick with that.

I have never recommended this before, but the color of that paint makes me think you bass is one that might look better with a few stickers. Or a refin. Yeah, probably the refin.

Just a suggestion for those who have these Highway 1, Highway One, and American Special basses with the thin finish.

I have a Highway 1 Precision in Sonic Blue. The paint was in great condition when I got it but was dull...I've seen this a lot with these Fender series. I used Griot's Complete Compound (automotive rubbing/polish compound) to clean and polish the finish, and mainly to try to give it a little "depth" because it looked so flat. Worked amazing and the compound was not too aggressive so I was able to control the amount of "cut" to get the result I wanted. The paint came to life. Because you can control the cut so well, you can get the amount of shine that you want too. (For those who want the matte finish that happens over time with the thin paint on these models, I would not recommend using this.)

Personally, I like the white, but another vote for anodized gold. Even though it wasn't one of the choices
