Help me choose pickguard color!

I just got this Fender HW1 P-bass. It plays great, sounds great and I got it for a great price. The color however may not be what I had chosen if I had bought the bass new (more like hearing aid beige than blonde to me) but no biggie. The pickguard however... White pickguards are the most boring thing I can imagine, and together with the blonde color... Nah...

So help me livening up this bass with a new pickguard! What color should it be? Black? Tort? Something else? Hit me!

I can help with this; I think red celluloid tortoise like this...or save yer bread & go with black/cream/black like this other one...I have a lot of other colors too...www.pickguardplanet.com

I think either tort or black would be pretty classy. Anything but mint or anodized on that color.

I would avoid any light colored pickguard on that body color. White or just about any light color is going to highlight that earth tone color even more. Contrast will change how the eye perceives color. Although tort is not for me, I agree with the tort recommendations for this bass. Also, the rosewood grain PG that Nev375 posted would work well too and isn't something you see very often. Solid black is safe but you if you want to add a little class you could try pearloid (or similar) in black or most medium to dark colors to include gold (anodized is cool), red, dark red, brown, or navy blue. It's just like matching a tie to go with a shirt and suit. A good tie can make a dramatic difference.

A nice pickguard will improve your sound. If you like how your bass looks, you'll be happy. If you're happy you'll play better. If you play better you'll sound better. So get a nice pickguard!

Completely outside the box here, but maybe give it that vintage motorcycle look. Green & White 3 ply or maybe even pearl green.

A dark green guard WOULD look pretty boss with that color.

I'm a fan of black pickguards, and in your case, I'd still stick with that.

I have never recommended this before, but the color of that paint makes me think you bass is one that might look better with a few stickers. Or a refin. Yeah, probably the refin.

Actually, I started out with this just to try it out. Quite like it. (It's a swedish brewing company for all you non-scandinavian people)

Other than that I have decided that I probably will get a tort pickguard later, to try out. My other P-bass got a black pickguard, so I took it of and tried on this bass. Didn't really like it however.

I like that - the sticker gives it some visual interest (takes your eyes off the paint), and on the pickguard, it's more removable than it would be on the paint.
