I'm curious...why an 80's tribute band? Someone who was 21 in 1980 is now 63. Is that the demographic you're wanting to attract?

I've met younger people who have discovered older music and prefer it. I've even asked some of them why they're listening to that older stuff.
'Cos it's better than the stuff that's coming out these days' is more or less what they say.
The older I get the more I believe it's all about the energy that the music expresses. Machine music was around then but much less so - it was very new. Music that has human energy and breathes is what I believe they are hooking into. Of course now the honeymoon is over and computers are used much like tape recorders were in many cases so there is still a human element to it but the convenience and speed of looping tracks is still a big carrot to resist.

Someone who was 5 in 1980 is more likely to have fond memories of 80's songs than someone who was 21.
50 is a fairly wealthy demographic so maybe it is what you want to be attracting.
The explosion of 90's cover bands recently probably reflects attracting people in their 30-40's.

But... in all seriousness... don't be so serious. Use a silly name. Have FUN!!! If I were in this band, it would be [edit. one of] my ORIGINAL bands from back in the late 80's. We're still friends, and THEY'RE KILLING IT!!!

The drummer has "moved on" to continue doing 80's stuff, with "real" 80's bands. Tours/recordings, etc...

I just can't/won't play covers. They have FUN. And do it RIGHT!!!

Oh, yeah. There's a ridiculous amount of depth in that game, especially the multi-user online hack. Radio Stations in GTA V

GTA Vice City, set in 1986, also has a number of radio stations (eight I think) playing good '80s music. Each station is dedicated to certain genre.
