another vote for the ampeg. It's great for home practice and surprisingly gets kinda loud. Not enough to jam with a drummer, but has been great for personal practice, or for non drummer practices haha.

When you're buying from a local music shop and you are a professional on guitar, why don't you just go there with a Stingray, try them out and pick the one you like best?
I love Eden. They tend to have very warm round tones that make your bass sound bigger than the other amps. Mark Bass has always been hit and miss. Usually a dark sound. Not my favorite. I've heard good things about the Orange but I would go with the Ampeg or Eden. Fender Rumble series are also pretty good.Hi there!
Committed to my local shop due to a professional musician account, these are the options for a small practice amp, which out of these would be most suitable for the music that I play?
Think Tony Levin, Paul Simon, Knopfler, Bernard Edwards, Muddy waters and other chicago blues.
Basses used: Stingrays
1. Ampeg RB-108
2. Vox VA50BA
3. Mark Bass Micromark 801
4. Various small EDEN and STAG brand amps
5. Orange Bass 25*
6. Roland Cube
These are all about 250$ before my discount.
I also have various vintage Fender brown guitar amps that are upwards of 3000$, perhaps I can do a speaker swap on one of them to bass it up, or just stick to a cheap practice amp?
Anyway, would love if you can match an amp from the list to what I play

Same. I bought two of them, and have used one to drive my quilter for an AMPEG sound . The other stays at work so I can practice in the evenings. And they were only $99 when I bought them.
I'm Gassing now for an SGT-DI.
But BA108 are great, IMO.
I got the ampeg scr di for ampless casino gigs but I honestly think the BA108 sounds better. The SGT looks cool tho.
I think you're going to be disappointed with anything under 50 watts and 10 inches. I've got four unused "practice" amps stacked in my storage room, including three Fender Rumbles of 15, 25 and 40 watts, and an Orange of 50 watts. What I finally ended up with that seems to be working for me in a home living room practice environment is a 100 watt 12 inch Acoustic, and that is by no means too much. I do live in a detached single-family home; an apartment in a multi-unit complex might be a different story to your neighbors on the other side of the adjoining walls, floor and ceiling.

Agree with you about the SCR-DI. I'm hoping the SGR is better. It's certainly more advanced and has many options, which, if they work, would make that pedal very useful. I'm holding off because I have another tube-based pedal in the constructionphase, and I should finish it and try it out before I just jump to spend $400 on another pre-DI box, although you can never have too many unused bass devices laying around the house.

Which Roland Cube it was? There are several models and the larger models, 100 and 120XL, are probably ok for some smaller places and/or playing with a light drummer. More than enough for home playing, that's for sure.
Moreover, the Cubes have modelling, so you should likely find a tone that suits your style -- and can change it if your style changes or you simply want to try something else.

A few years back I did a park thing as a soundguy. We rented a small generator and that was enough to power amps and a small pa for a few hours.
