Help me to appreciate matching headstocks

I don't mind unless it's a Fender style bass, then i don't like any paint at all. The only exeption is if it's all black and dark wood board

I don't really like them either. The little bit of paint looks out of place to me above the natural grain of a fretboard. But some people love them. To each their own, I guess.

LOVE matching headstocks on rosewood (or similar) boards, not so much on maple though.

You've just made me realise why I like some matching headstocks and others not.
