My apologies for the initial title. The thread became a little not fun. I've never liked matchy matchy headstocks. Exact same finish on body and headstock when plain headstocks are available and more typical of the classic look. Fenders, G&Ls, Peaveys etc. Iconic styles like Rics and Thunderbirds that always have matching or distinctively colored headstocks don't fall into this category.

Show me your matchy matchy basses...help me to overcome this mental block.

It's crazy how bad the QC is at all those factories... they don't even notice all the missing paint! It's embarrassing, frankly...

Get a Gibson, you can have a black headstock on your heritage cherry bass. There, that doesn't match.

Rob Allen does perfect matching stocks in Koa. The prettiest I've seen. I don't see the reason for the bias against them. Just cheap?

I hate when the headstock doesn't match anything else! (e.g. blue body, rosewood board, maple HS) - That's probably why I like maple boards so much!

Things I used to hate but now love:

- Maple fretboards

- Basses with paint jobs

- Any bass with more than four strings
