My apologies for the initial title. The thread became a little not fun. I've never liked matchy matchy headstocks. Exact same finish on body and headstock when plain headstocks are available and more typical of the classic look. Fenders, G&Ls, Peaveys etc. Iconic styles like Rics and Thunderbirds that always have matching or distinctively colored headstocks don't fall into this category.

Show me your matchy matchy basses...help me to overcome this mental block.

I think matching headstocks look cool, unless it's a 'burst of some kind, those look all kinds of wrong to me, especially with a maple fretboard.

I prefer matching over non-matching any day of the week, though I can make some exceptions for Spector, Warwick (though when they do matching headstocks they're gorgeous), Gibson, and a few others. But if there is an option to have a matching headstock, I'll have that.

Matching (or even contrasting) headstocks not only looks best, but also makes it clear the instrument was intentionally built together with these parts instead of the random assembly line grab.
