Help me to appreciate matching headstocks

Is this a stock piezo bridge on your Sting Ray or was it modified? I want one. I've never seen this before. That is a sweet sweet bass.

It's factory, a 2000 model. Music Man discontinued the piezo option in 2015. They were never very popular, but those of us who love them never want to be without piezo bridges.

Here's one that got away from me a couple of years ago, a 2004 model. It was listed on Reverb for a great price because it had cosmetic damage to the back of the headstock:

Klaus flouride jazz bass at DuckDuckGo

One of my personal iconic basses of all time.

You can hate matching headstocks all you want, but the Lake Placid Blue Jazz Bass with matching headstock just appearance wise is one of the best looking basses I've ever seen in my opinion.
Maaan, I wonder where that bass is now since never catching up with the band in Brazil in 2013 after checking it in at the airline?

Can't remember If I replied to this thread with mine already, but I think they're sexy enough to warrant another picture. ;)

I prefer the bra and panty analogy but I see what you did there and I approve
I prefer the bra and panty analogy myself. I stole the socks / underwear analogy from Troy Sanders from Mastodon talking about his Fender Signature Series Jaguar. The whole interview is kind of comical. But when he mentioned the matching headstock my brain raced back here to TB :roflmao:

yeah, socks just aren't sexy.

Thread title evolution:
I ******* hate matching headstocks
I hate matching headstocks
I don't like matching headstocks
Help me to appreciate matching headstocks

My apologies for the initial title. The thread became a little not fun. I've never liked matchy matchy headstocks. Exact same finish on body and headstock when plain headstocks are available and more typical of the classic look. Fenders, G&Ls, Peaveys etc. Iconic styles like Rics and Thunderbirds that always have matching or distinctively colored headstocks don't fall into this category.

Show me your matchy matchy basses...help me to overcome this mental block.
I wasn't a fan until my newest bass. Matching headstock on a rosewood board = Money!
