help please! is this real?

That’s a great bass and you got it for a steal - that’s the same model Fender the bass player for Guns’n’Roses played.
I really like the feel & sound of them - really solid instrument.

It’s nice to see a Happy story like this - honestly, when I first saw “is this a real Fender”, then “I don’t know that much about Basses”, then the low price, I was expecting to see some monstrosity w/ Fender written in crayon on the headstock. Haha!

Again, Great score! Get her in shape & play the h€|| out of it!
thnx rob it did need quite a clean and all the control knobs and toggle switch were missing i bought these of ebay ha ha really would like some new machine heads but dunno what size theyll be thnx for your post mate!

Hi everyone my name is tony, am from the uk!!.. only just joined this site and wondered if anyone can help me?
i been thinking of getting a bass for my little project home studio and was saving sum cash for a squire precision...anyways on sunday i went to a car boot sale and on a stall i saw what was a bass without strings on it, the lady said it needed repair has the wires were hanging out! i been playing guitar for a few yrs and recognize the name fender the lady wanted £60 for it but let me have it for 45 when she saw how eager i was! i got it home and ordered sum strings which i put on then plugged it in ands its working all pickups and tone control! and stays in tune now it sounds quite good too me but i dont have a bass amp so i put it through my line 6 interface and its working good! do you guys think this is a real fender when i look at jazz basses they have a different body shape so i cant be sure and can i get the proper machine heads that fit and a back cover for the electrics? thnx in advance tony

Thnx again for all the replys the tuners are a bit rattley and are not the proper ones as i can see screw holes were the originals have been can i get proper sized ones even though this bass is old? Anyone know the size?
Nice! I have a Jazz Bass Special of that era. I made a rear cover with an old vinyl record. I also put hipshot ultralight tuners on it. They don’t cover the original screw holes, but that just adds to the “mojo”
The only other thing I had to do was replace the output jack.
