help using iPad/iPhone for practice

I want to purchase an ipad (and Apogee Jam 96k) to practice my bass.
This will be replacing my Pandora Mini practice device.

My question is, what other products/apps would you recommend?
For example, what if I want to add some reverb or other effects to my signal?
Or drums/metronome.

Are these products expensive? Free? Included in Garage band?
Sorry for the newb question. I'm new to apple products.

I use exactly that setup with the JamUp app for practice. Good headphones help a lot. The Apogee Jam 96k is a fantastic piece of hardware, though my DiMarzios require I turn the input all the way down to avoid distortion.

I've played a bit with GarageBand, but for learning tunes the simplicity of JamUp is tough to beat. When playing on my iPhone I can draw right from my music library. Lots of effects available for purchase, too.

I was searching for JamUp at the AppStore but I could only find a multi effect processor that is called JamUp. Which app did you mean?

JamUp is a bit more than a simple effects processor. It comes with a built in 2 track recorder (expandable to 8), and as mentioned allows you to import music from your library and play along while manipulating pitch, tempo, and adding loops. No drum emulators at this time though.

Garageband has a few good options for drum machine tracks. Not sure how many tracks GB goes up to but it is more then I have reached. Effects can be added as we'll as other midi instruments built into it. Fun easy to use tool IMO.

Hi,
I got a line 6 "sonic port" from the mac store yesterday. It came with a nice litle app that might do what you need.

I just wanted something to plug in my bass to my ipad/mac book and record stuff in garage band.. that software was a bonus!
