I found an old bass player mag(don't really read the mag anymore though, used to be a lot better) back in Nov '94. On the cover was Chris Squire and John Paul Jones, their is a short article with Melvin Gibbs. This was around the time of "Weight". It says he used 5 or 6 string Warwick and Tobias bass. He used two Mesa Boogie 400+ heads, one 1x18 and two 2 x 15 Mesa cabs. Crazy low end action. He also used a Big Muff, Yamaha wh-10 wah, Mu-tron III, Boss line selector and Demeter stereo tube DI. I think this is what he was playing live basically when I saw Rollins during the "Come In And Burn" tour. He had one of the most powerful loud bass tones I have heard live and it was'nt that big of a club either. I heard their was a lot of outtakes from the "Come In and Burn" sessions of some long tunes and maybe instrumentals. I wish some of that would get released.
